Move the hole to the edge of the key and it’ll be a pretty realistic good looking key.

Tips:
Use Cycles for a quicker better result. Or if you can’t, try to mimic GI with lamps.
Instead of specular, use mirror, then give the key something to reflect (White emmissive squares would work).
Add bevel on the teeth of the key.
Use smooth shading.
And yeah, move the hole to the edge.
Quicker? Not on my machine…
My first model was the default cube…

I didn’t notice the hole because it was covered by my fingers. I don’t think I can make it beter with my current skills.

and yeah try doing it in cycles u will get a wonderful render;)
Good work I think the key is looking realistic and the surface isn’t. May be you should use floor texture (wood) to make the entire scene realistic

lol, Mess with moving the 3d cursor around by using Shift+S then use it to move vertices or objects etc.
If you open the + on the right side of screen, there is a 3d cursor section, this is VERY HANDY

That was good with the default. It’s still better than my first and probably fifth model. At the beggining i didn’t even know how to render lol;p
