My first "real" render

Well, this is my first serious render, and I’d like to hear if you have any comments on it. I haven’t added any materials or textures yet.

The’re is only one thing we can really comment on…the modeling.
Seems like you reproduced the ordinary keyboard quite well. Now If I were you I’d do this in the following order
*add a plane/ground that covers the whole view(so we don’t have this blue background
*look up on how to use ambient occlusion to make a better “modelling” view of the keyboard
*work on the materials and texture
*move on to the lighting

You’re off to a good start
Slep

I didn’t add a big plane yet because I don’t want it to get in the way, and I added the lights just so the model would be visible. And I am looking up ambient occlusion right now.

I’m with Slepnyrl, add some textures, a scene, that blue background doesn’t suffice.

Ditto whats already been said. This shouldn’t really be in Focused Critique, I don’t think…

Why not?

Anyway, its best that you do make a plane, that you will be able to see how the shadows look, and you will see some contrast. Try a texture.

Here are some good ones. Go to the textures sections.

And get the blue floorboards.

The model is too dark on the sides to tell much more on the modeling. Other than maybe the keyboard body, the keys are great.

My first render threads don’t belong here, really.
