My First something

Hello!. well… I’ve been playing with blender for a few days, I saw half of the tutorial for the gingerbread man… I came up with the rest!. I’ll be active trying to improve my skills.

Let me know what you think. Critics/Tips are very welcome

Ohh!. I have some updates… I spent some time making the scene better

Give that tray some thickness - at the moment, it’s paper thin, and probably very sharp. Also, the gingerbread man might need some texturing - nothing major, perhaps a subtle clouds Nor map…
A Nor (also known as bump) map gives the texture some depth, causing the surface to be calculated as if it is not flat and smooth without adding exteme amounts of extra geometry. As it does not actually affect the position of the mesh, it wouldn’t work for actual features, but it would give more of a gingerbread effect. To make a texture a Nor map, in the Material buttons (not the texture buttons) go to the last panel on the right, and go to the third tab. Deselect the Col button and click the Nor button. Then change the slider appropriately.
I would also suggest adding a few gingerbread crumbs around the tray, and giving the table a texture.
Good for a first work, even if following a tutorial.

Thank you Axis :D. I will do that when I find the time, and post it!

Put the guys right on the plate, so then they are not just floating.

Ok. I have some updates.

I spent some time improving the tray… some crumbles, and the nor thing. I need to work on the table and the wall… (I’ve been thinking in putting a window, maybe). though I don’t know what to do with the table :S

First of all: rotate and replace the breads a little. They are perfectly aligned which doesn’t look natural. You might even move some vertices of each mesh to add some bumbs and make them look like they where actually formed by hand, not by a machine.

Details: add some ingredients to the background/sourrounding area like butter, a cooking book, a packet of flour. I dont know how to do this in blender but: some flour at the tray and the table would be nice, and some greasy fingerprints. A cup with some kind of brush/spoon sticking in it. A towel or oven gloves.

And I agree with the window. Having some light from the ouside would add a lot to te scene.

Looks great so far!

happy blending

It looks a little plain right now, but I know you are working on fixing that. I look at a couple of cookie pans around my house, and I do not see any that reflective or shiny. I think a big improvment would be making the pan look dirty. You can do this with UV mapping or vertex painting.
