My first work, a PS2 with TV

Hi, this is my first real work with blender, it’s still unfinished but i’d like to now what do you guys think. Almost everyting is made with blender, only few textures are made with other program or scanned.

So could i have so C&C

So far its excellent, but i think you should turn down the spec on the center sticks. Oh and can you get some light so we can see where the controller connects to the console.

Have you used other programs before?

Thanks Nitefyre, here’s an update of my work, i fixed it a bit. I added light a little bit more, but hope that’ll be enough.

K1lljoy, no i haven’t used any other 3d programs before, Blender is the first one.

Nice job for a first work. Keep it up!

And now it’s time for some super crits:

The TV looks decent, but it needs a rougher surface; you can accomplish that with a lower specularity and lower hardness. A very small stucco texture as a subtle bump map would help, too. The Sony logo looks right, but it needs to be differentiated from the rest of the TV – a metallic silver would be good. The screen should also be a 4:3 or greater width:height ratio; right now it’s square.

The CD isn’t great, but CDs are some of the hardest things to create properly. Just slap a CD texture on there, and it will be fine.

Your controller knobs looked better before – now they’re too bumpy and wet looking, and the color is off. If you tone down that bump map, decrease the hardness, and make them slightly brighter in color, that should do the trick.

Textures on the “dumb” buttons on the right (now you know what I think of Sony’s controllers! :stuck_out_tongue: ) look blurred. If you decrease the filter value and mess with the mipmapping setting, things will look better.

The cord curve is jerky and segmented – if you up the resolution, it will look much nicer.

I don’t know what kind of monitor you’re using, but on mine, your scene still looks really dark. I can’t discern any details on the PS2 unit itself, or on the cord. The scene doesn’t just need more light; it needs more lights – a couple of fill lights should do the trick.

Good luck!
Matt

DRAT! I started a PS2 model about a month ago, looks like you beat me to it
Now for Crits. the controller “grips” do not appear to blend into the rest of the controller, they need to be “blended” into the main part of the controller. And the PS2 itself is too skinny, the bottom part looks like it’s missing altogether(although it could be the perspective). Otherwise it looks good for a start.

P.S. Welcome to Blender

looks good.

almost photorealistic, with the cords, might i sugest turning on subsurf.

needs more light on the consol, its too dark, can’t see the details.

the handles on the controller need work, the right one looks like its not connected to the rest of the controller.

good work
