Yep, I’m following the trend and starting a sketchbook:D
Also I’ve just started learning how to use GIMP properly (as in not just clicking random filters and hoping for the best:p).
Anyway, here’s my first image, made from a few pictures I found on Google. It’s a parody of their “Like. No. Other.” slogan with a picture of their HQ (based in Hell itself) in the background. Not very high quality I know, but I’m still new to this:o
BTW, I don’t hate Sony, but “Like. No. Other.” had too much potential to be ignored:evilgrin:
ha…nice one man…yeah abit too low res tho.
Thanks:D
I’ve done a bit more today, been learning how to use the “clone” tool.
So, just as Sony were planning their most evil scheme yet, David’s Random Multimedia, inc. moved in, first removing their logo and then replacing it with theirs:p
There are a few off-colour lines where the logo used to be - it was covering some of them up and they were too small for me to fix with the clone tool, so I had to guess at the colour and draw them back in by hand:eek:

a sketchbook is supposed to contain sketches…
'nuff said
Sketchbook is not about photo retouching and photo processing it is about fine art drawing
You are out of topic
dont take the comments personally, just edit your title, saying Animatinators Gimp Works.
Okay, sorry:confused:
I am aware of what sketchbook means, it just seems to be the name everyone uses, I’ve fixed it now anyway.
Back on topic, what do you think of the “retouched and post-processed photos”?
I’d say that this is a sketchbook of sorts. these are sketches in that they are experiments rather than fineshed projects. Nice work, Dave. Try experimenting with some differant images.
Thanks:)
And good point, it is sort of a sketchbook in that sense:yes:
I think I’ll leave Sony alone now, they’ve had their punishment:evilgrin:
Anyway, I’ve been playing around with a few of the brushes and effects this evening, so I’ll probably have something to show for it soon. Also, I’ve just discovered the ‘blur’ brush, so I can blur certain sections of the image only (a lot more helpful than it sounds, trust me:D)
Found a picture of a beach this time, and I’ve removed the random person blocking the view and replaced him with a badly drawn green blob thingy:D
The original pic:
Person removed, green thingy added:
C+C welcome:yes:
I know the reflections on the green thing isn’t quite right, but I wasn’t sure how to make the water show through realistically.
Have you tried messing with the opacity.(Put the reflection on a new layer then mess with the opacity)…Should work…
Sorry I’ve not updated this in a while, I was bust with the N00bs UNITE! thingy. I’ve made another random image from one of the sample pictures that came with my computer:
Original pic:
Fire added:
What do you think?
The fire casts absolutely no light on anything, which makes it look photoshopped in.
Why is the fire in the water? I would have thought that it would be in the background part.
The way you did Sony’s fire was way better.
(I think you do have a grudge against them…)
Seriously though, ways this picture could be improved:
The fire casts absolutely no light on anything, which makes it look photoshopped in.
Why is the fire in the water? I would have thought that it would be in the background part.
and the fire is Opaque. Try changing the opacity, or expirementing with the blending modes
Water and fire ? neah to wet
Good points. Although it’s not actually in the water, if you look closely you’ll see there’s a small section of land there, although it can’t really be seen because of the flames. When I made this image I didn’t know how to do transparency:o
I’m going to do another image today (I’ve not done much in a while), I’ll post it when I’m done:yes:
Hello again:)
I’ve made another image as promised, this time learning a few of the remaining brushes.
It’s a vision of the future, when cats take over the earth:D
Here is a picture of a perfectly normal city at the moment:
And here’s what it’ll look like in a couple of years (note that the website adress in the corner has also disappeared;)):
The cat was tricky to cut out, especially with all the fur. In the end I just cut it out with straight lines and used the smudge brush to drag sections out to look like fur.
Some of the cutting out’s a bit wonky at the bottom of the cat, because it was kind of trial-and-error seeing as I couldn’t see the buildings behind the cat as I was erasing the cat.
As always, tell me what’s wrong with it so I can try and improve next time:yes:
I’m actually noticing a few problems with the cutting out of the fire as I type this, and also it doesn’t cast any light - I’m not sure how to add light:o Would I use the dodge/burn brush thingy?
Nice. Do you know how to change a layers opacity?
Making a change to a Picture made by an Photographer is called RIP-OFF! Don`t do it again !
You put one cat in the picture and removed the Copyright on the image but all the rest of image is the original!
Man do it yourself don`t copy and pretend that it is your creation !
Even the cat is not photographed by you!
So dont put Copyright holders on things that you don
t really own!
