When I use Blender, my Monitor suddenly flickers, switches off, goes on again and shows strange artifacts or pixels on the screen. The only thing I can do then is restart. This also happens when I run 3DMark2001 or Blender under Linux, so can’t be OpenGL or a driver issue.
When I disable Hardware acceleration, there is no problem except that 3D runs kinda slow (surprise!).
The card is not hot or anything, the fan works as usual and I didn’t overclock it. I am now thinking of using an overclocking tool to underclock it. The symptoms seem, however, pretty strange to me. Any ideas?
There is also a crash on Counter-Strike map changes… (not in the game)

My naive thought is that is is rather unlikely to have the same problem in two different systems (because the drivers are not the same)

Reinstall your drivers or get new drivers. I had an ATI card that did that and did what others suggested and still didn’t work. I pulled the card out an put my old NVIDIA card in and everything was OK. I sent the card back and sent me a new one because it was still under warranty and ATI told me the card was defective. The ATI card was only a year old. Sometimes a power spike or something similar can fry sensitive electronics. Try using a different card in your machine if you can to see it that’s the problem. It could be the same bug in both drivers, but if its happening on the same card in two systems, chances are it is the card (occam’s razor and all)
changing drivers and testing is less painful than getting a new card, so it doesn’t hurt.
