That is looking nice! Love the trees especially. Also like the noise in the background.

thats awsome … I love the design. nice and creepy 8)

other comments/suggestions ?

AWESOME :o

Yafray render?

Love the textures , and lighting combination, very nice 8)

I lov the model and the interesting lighting, but texturing, I think, need to be improved - maybe unified them more?

it looks really realistic to my eye, but then agian, it is 7 in da mornin

Nice spooky fairytale castle. I like this

Good job.

My only crit is tower on the left side of the castle. I think there could be more visible tiles on the texture. But other than that great work.

My only criticism with it would be that its sense of scale seems a little off, especially towards the bottom of the building. If you’re going for a “realistic” look, then I think this is something that could maybe be improved. Unfortunately, I’m still pretty new to this whole thing, so I’ve no idea how you’d go about that :frowning:

Other than that, I really like this image.

I modelled this castle after a picture I saw on the internet, and I liked the way it looked. I also like the way it looks on my render.

And by the way : this picture was NOT ment to be looking realistic. That’s why my main light is green-ish, and my key light is red. I tried to make it moody, and not realistic.

And another question : I just noticed that the deadline for the contest is 2 weeks later now. Do you think I should add more elements to it? Like some sort of creature? Should I add some kind of ‘story’ in the picture ? How could I make it more interesting ?

Great stuff! To make it more interesting: add some bats coming from behind going very near in the front (almost covering the lense).

looks very good. seems to me that the tiles on the wall are too big but I presume that’s more a matter of taste.

How improve it further? lot’s of possibilities depending on what you’re aiming for or what story you want.

the bats are a good suggestion (classic). in then case you might want to add a cemetery.

all depends who is livinhg in the castle: a vampire, evil wizard or maybe a humble knight threatened by dark forces, a beautifull princes in a haunted castle.

anyway, very nice work and i’m following this one. could you maybe explain us more about your lightning techniques?

wyvern

Good render, theres one thing bothering me that it took me a while to put my finger on.

The windows, just completly black?

And you planning on doing anything about this?

The lighting is quite simple. It’s just a classical three point light setup with carefully chosen colours and intensities.

Now that you mention it, the windows indeed look pretty bad, I will probably do something about that.

how did you do the cool glow effect like on the towers?

Look like a miniature hand-made set. Very excellent.

I’ve thought a bit on how I could improve this picture, and together with your ideas, I will try to add these things.

  • add a grave to the right of the road
  • add bats around the tower
  • add a spooky creature between the trees
  • improve the windows
  • add rain ?
  • improve the road

any thoughts ?

Unfortunately, I can’t start working on this pic again till monday, so you’ll have to be patient for the updates …

Maybe a sign by the entrance saying “you can enter, but you may never leave”

kewl. Reminds me of the necromancer castle in Heroes of Might & Magic 2 that I used to play

I’ve modelled a small monster today. Tried to make him look weird and a little cute at the same time. Maybe he’s a little too detailed to just place him between the trees, so if anyone has suggestions on how to use this creature, don’t hesitate to tell me.

btw : I love the new modelling tools in 2.30 !
