my origin point will not move… i udnno what i pressed… i have done this before and have forgotten how i fix it… i tried ctrl+alt+c, didn work, dunno what to do
ok… new problem, the origin pt is stuck to my 3d cursor… where my 3d cursor goes, my origin goes
Sounds like you have something weird activated in terms of snapping tools. A little more info… are you in Object mode or Edit mode? Is the magnet icon in the toolbar along the bottom of your 3D view activated? Does it help if you deactivate the magnet?
its not the magnet… its in viewer mode, not edit mode… if i click somewhere on the screen, the 3d cursor, AND the ““3d manipulator”” both go to where i click, even if i use the handels to move the object, the ““3d minipulator”” snaps back to the 3d cursor
solved… some how the “pivot” got changed to 3d cursor from “active object”
Glad you got it solved. Sometimes these things require resorting to a screenshot of your buttons, and then comparing these to the buttons of a brand new file.
Please note (for future troubleshooting):
There is no “viewer mode” among the Object / Edit modes (etc). Also, are you meaning that you switched the Pivot Centre to “Active Element”? (there is no “active object” mode for the Pivot Centre… not unless you’re using a really old version of Blender, in which case you should have said so; the current downloadable version is 2.63a). If I repeat the solution you suggest it does not recreate your symptoms… are you sure you weren’t missing some important elements in your original description? If so, the info might be handy to include with other troubleshooting posts.
