My Scene

I had a friend test it-

I fixed the side walking (it looks better I think).
I added backwards walking.
I decreased the spinstalks rate of fire.

I will send a video as soon as I find a good screen recorder.

Thanks for all of the help

I created a dungeon layout- I am looking for suggestions on how to improve it and make it more like a dungeon.

For a dungeon there are way too many straight lines! Add a subdivision surface modifier and a displacement modifier and play around with a cloud displacement texture, to give it some bumps.

Thanks for the suggestions- I don’t know much about making dungeons

here is the current dungeon with textures

you should make an up/down dynamic to you dungeon. Climbing ladders and stuff… that would make it really cool > :stuck_out_tongue: great job though. Compared to your previous games (I’m not trying to be mean… :)) this is fantastic. you’ve really improved.

Thanks, I do realize that each of my games is usually better than the last (except maybe for this last bgmc, i didn’t spend a lot of time on it, lol), I will try to add ladders and stuff, because I already have a ladder system implemented. Thanks for the help

edit: that big area on the first left is where the boss will be located- and the way to get past him is by finding the mythical cloth to keep out the poisonous sea turtle breath

Another edit:I might make some falling ladders as easier ways to get past difficulties

Hi Fredstash,
I havent looked at this thread for a while so I was surprised to see how much it has advanced. It looks great! For a screen recorder for making videos I recently found open broadcaster software (just google it) It’s free and gives really good performance.
You have to google for tips to get ghe best picture though.

Thanks for the suggestion I will get on it, I am glad that my game has gotten better from how it started.

Thanks to everyone for the help

Hm… For me OBS is way slower than Kazam. It makes me think that Kazam is really good recorder. But it may also be that OBS is slow on Linux - I don’t know.

fredstash, game looks good. Question is - is that dungeon like cave or built structure? If it is structure, you may manually squarish it a bit:D

It is a cave, it is the lair of the sea turtles. I am having issues with OBS, but I haven’t looked into that much.

edit: I figured out my issue, and I should have a video probably by tomorrow

I’m just working on the environment of the cave- I haven’t put characters or enemies in it yet, because I still have some polishing to do on the character.

outside view

what it looks like on the inside

There are a couple raises in the cave, and I put some water in the lowest places.

I am going to add rocks, ladders, and doors (doors will either be rock or look old).

Thanks for all of the help, I may not get a video by tomorrow, but hopefully sometime this week.

Why don’t you add some textures from CGtextures? they could make your rocky walls look great, unless you are going for a handpainted style.

Yeah the hand painted look kind of goes with the rest of the game.

I have been thinking through the story line some more. The story is that all of the great beings (i.e giant sea turtle) have gotten a parasite, and the main character must go around killing the parasites before the kill the great beings plunging the world into chaos.

This is just basically what is happening, I will delve farther into it as I go along

Here is a video, I hope it works well- it is definitely a better frame rate than before. https://youtu.be/xb05XPWkt_w.

Ive been busy with school- but this week end is free.
I plan on improving the backwards walk (he will probably not look backwards anymore.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the help

Fredstash

Nice work, fredstash. It looks really good. You need to improve walking animations, though.

I removed the fog, I think it looks good.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for all of the help, also I am working on the walk cycle.

I have started some more work on the dungeon (I haven’t had much time because school is crazy)

Here is a star fish, for in the dungeon

I hope this looks about the same quality as the rest of the game

Wow i must say, your models are improving quite a lot! Very good progress you’re making here. I’m always waiting for some more screenshots

I decided that the new enemy looks more like an octopus- so he will be the first mini boss.

I am also planning on making a sea snake in the cave
