my skin for mplayer

It’s years since my last post, but I still blender stuff from time to time.

Here is a skin for mplayer (the video player for linux) I’m working on (I mean finishing), if anyone is interested I will upload the tar file in a couple of days or so.

Of course 100% Blender + some editing in The Gimp.

Cheers.

PS: Sorry, but no plans for Winamp skins for now (I don’t even use that crap!)

Cool, looking really nice! It’s not a skin I would use thought, I like the minimalistic ones better.

Almost the exact same sentiment here… though, I use Winamp Anyhow, hehe… hrm, don’t even have speakers hooked up to the Linux box, though I have had thoughts of building a dedicated MP3 player. Does WinAmp do Linux? Anyhow… I’d want to do TV-out, in which case a nice fancy piece of eye-candy for a skin (like yours) would be nice. But what am I talking about, lol… all I got for stereo equipment is a boom box, not even a single line-in jack, hehe.

WOW…I want that skin!!!

Nice skin, I like the metal texture a lot, very realistic.

Mplayer is not a mp3 player, it’s a one hellova videoplayer

No, winamp doesn’t do linux (even thought they’ve released some sucky linux-beta’s) , but XMMS do. And that’s even better :). http://www.xmms.org

Actually winamp, can play video’s too…

What I like most from MPlayer is, that it has a nice encoding utility “MEncoder”, which can do some nice stuff…

Very nice skin malefico!!!

I’d sure like to use it… Tell us when it’s ready to download it…

Spyros.

heheh. nice skin. I use mplayer, but I don’t usually use the gui, still, might be fun playing with your skin. (for those of you who think that sounds perverted- stop it! )

cool skin, but i prefer a different style… %| its just not my taste.

XMMS is crap man. My audio player on linux worked fine until I put on RH8.0 that came with XMMS. It doesn’t work at all. :frowning:

I used GQMpeg for mp3 for a very long time, then one day I installed Mandrake and XMMS took the mp3 dimension, then I changed I don’t remember what library and XMMS was uninstalled (along other things) without asking for opinion. Never knew what happened.
Anyway, now I use a docked mp3 app in Blackbox Slit

Misteries of software packages.

Well, redhat has disabled mp3 playing as default for patent problems or something like that.

They say something about it on http://www.xmms.org

I’m glad I use a real distribution.

real distribution?? sigh…
so linux distribution is REAL only if it comes with mp3 player?

and for valarking, download the mp3 addon rpm from here: http://psyche.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=106

anyways, people, use .ogg, it’s patent free.

looks nice… though I haven’t built the gui into my mplayer
so far I havent found any use for it … heh.

yep

not only is Ogg Vorbis free it’s a lot better for compression and quality!

Indeed, but since you rather loose quality than win when converting from mp3 to ogg I still need to be able to play my old ones.
