My submission to the Moving Meditations challenge

Hi guys, here’s my submission to the Moving Meditations challenge with a quick breakdown.

Because of the very dark lighting the image had to be rendered at 1024 samples. I used GarageFarm’s offer to newcomers to render it in a decent amount of time.

I rendered in .exr multilayer format and then used the experimental optix temporal denoiser that’s “hidden” in blender.
This was my first ever render of an animated full scene so I don’t know if my workflow is adequate, I had to fumble around a lot.

And here’s a still render made on my computer at 2048 samples.

Here’s a clay render :

as well as a workbench render :

For the hologram I just followed and tweaked this excellent tutorial.

I modeled and textured absolutely everything in the scene myself in blender. The indermodal containers are the only item I had created prior to making this.

I have already made the small flying robot’s model available on sketchfab.

I will make the rest available later over there.

I modeled the main character over the provided armature and used mixamo animations for the robots in the background.

For this droid I have to give credits to this sketchfab model for inspiration (especially for the spine part) :

And credits for the graffiti decals on the foremost container go to :

It’s not a perfect render, by a long shot, but I’m really happy with the final result and learned a lot along the way. Hope you guys enjoy!
