Maqs thats fantastic, I wonder if there could be a way to optimize the glossy reflection code to be faster for this kinda of usage
ZanQdo, glossy reflection isn’t so slow, if You use hdri map for that You can even say its fast, but if u want reflections from for example planes behind area lights it can be slow, it can be faster, but its works fine and its most important i think.
i find time to try indigo.

Very simple shader just two phong materials blended together.
The indigo renders look like your using SSS shaders? How are you lighting it in blender internal? Amazing tests!
No, there is no sss in renders from indigo, as i write just two phong materials, indigo’s skin shader (dermis, epidermis) isn’t implemented correctly
In internal i usualy use big area lights with gamma=05.
I’d like to use a shader like that on my blanka wip. NOt quite at the point yet in the process, but it would be nice to keep it in blender. Maya’s shaders have been acting up on me. Is this 3 point lighting as well?
maqs, I gotta complement you on your anatomy skills.
That vampire is great because he essentially has a 52 year old man’s body, not the typical super-buff that compromises the 95% of most monster models.
The renders are sweet too.
As usual awesome stuff Maqs, you keep setting the bar!
Indigo is simply awesome!!
womball yeah, simple 3 point light setup, i like indigo because I must worry only about light’s location, i can play with energy and colour during the render! in lux render as well but I like indigo more.
elam, thank You mate!
Romeo, Thank You!.
I try post more renders from indigo soon.

I make some changes in shader, hope now looks better than before.
Yeah it does. He looks like he’s been in a grave a couple of weeks. Decayed.
You should post this over at CGTalk, if you haven’t already. It’s friggin awesome. And at a higher resolution.
How long did this take to render?
in this res 35 minutes , but i should render it about 40 minutes longer to get rid noise, higher res soon, i want finish shader first. Glad You like it elam, but it’s not cg talk’s quality stuff;)
slightly different version

stamp is invisible after some post work in blender, but it was almost 2 hours on 4 threads, not so bad i think
It would be cgtalk and zbrushcentral quality (top row) stuff if you posted him standing in front of a gradient background. The background does compete with the image. Similar color values and hues.
Well, since the vampire et al. seems to be lit with a greenish-blue cast, maybe burnishing up the pillars with a bit of fire/reddish/orange would bring out the vampire better instead of replacing the background entirely; although, If you wanted to keep the colours uniform, you could add a slab of less-detailed concrete roughly around behind the vampire to add a nice bit of negative space.
I try do something with background later, meanwhile bigger render.

Fantastic work. I completely disagree that this isn’t CGtalk quality. Composition and background need some work, but as you say you haven’t got to that point yet. The modelling and shading are already top notch.
Oh, no doubt; that’s some stellar work there.
The character looks stunning, big budget film quality. Only the background doesn’t quite live up to it.
Wow! I don’t know what else to say.
dermis, epidermis hmmm okay.Z-brush.
Frank You should read others people, posts before You asked question, as i write before, there is no sss, no dermis/epidermis, just some phong materials blended together, i try post some screen shoots later, about textures, albedo was painted in zbrush, as well as exponent map and bump, that’s all
Thank You guys for nice comments.
