As a new little tradition of my own, I make an Australian Christmas-themed scene every year in December. My skills have a long way to go, but it’s nice to have a fixed deadline and simple expectations. Last year’s turned out quite well. This year required some technical trickery.
The sparkles and fairy lights are geometry nodes. Hills hoist and colorbond fence were modelled. Grass and tree were Botaniq, and sunset was the in-built sky simulator. Lady in the background was from HumGen3d.
The long exposure was made through motion blur with a 10 frame width and the world’s worst animation keys. Renders were long and hard to gauge. Some glare and exposure tweaking through compositing.
All up, it was maybe 6 hours scrounged over a month, late at night. That included experimenting with and abandoning some initial ideas.
There’s lots I’d fix, but… Merry Christmas, everyone!
