n00b-like question

well i FINALLY installed blender on my new computer…
I only had 10 minutes to play wiuth it, but the new knife tools and face-loop tools look like lots of fun
I’ve got a bit of a problem though. When I used Blender on my Mac, it ran in windowed mode, so I could always miniumize it when I needed to get into other apps. Now that I’m running on Linux, it forces itself into fullscreen mode, and I can’t switch apps without quiting blender. very annoying… anyone know how to get it into windowed mode on linux?

try opening with ‘blender -w’ from the command line (don’t type the quotes)

I always leave blender on it’s own desktop. Very quick and easy that way!

or you could always use ALT-TAB… works for me

Maybe www.<yourwindowmanager>.org/com would be the better place to ask

no, Alt-Tab works fine. I have 6 desktops, so I just go to one of the others when I want to do something else.
