N00b question - How to round off shapes?

Been doing a few blender tuts - still extremely lost lol But i decided to try and do something on my own without the tuts just to reflect on everything I learned.

Anyways Im making a stick man - I want him to be more round than normally using the cube and extruding sides of that out and yadda yadda… Is there a way, after my character is blocked out - to make him round? Like I made it out of cylinders?

((tried cylinders once before… Didnt work out so good lol))

Thanks for reading!

in object mode you can set the face shading to smooth.
3D View: Tools (T): Object Tools: Shading: Smooth.

you can apply a sub division modifier to make it more rounded.
Properties: Object Modifiers: Add Modifier: Subdivision Surface.

in edit mode you can subdivide the mesh.
3D View: Tools (T): Mesh Tools: Add: Subdivide.

Add a subdivision modifier to make it rounded. Pressing Ctrl+3 on your keyboard would subdivide your model three times for example.

Thanks guys! Yall answered my question fast! very much appreciated

(( even though mine came late lol ))
