Naeon - A sign of tomorrow's technology?

Finally I have the time to upload this one and get some feedback from you.
Please take a look at
Naeon
(you’ll find a more detailed description there, too) and let me know what you think abou the render.
I’d really appreciate some tips on the texturing as I do want to learn it or at least I’d like to know what could be improved the next time. Maybe I take my time and learn it some day =/

Anyway, thanks in advance!

Really nicely done. The texturing looks nice, but could be a bit dirtier IMO. The bump on the gun thingy looks to be a bit much as well.

Not sure if you intended it, but some of the parts are not smoothed. Again, you may have meant it to be that way.

Lighting is really well done. Suits the scene very well.

BgDM

Not too much to c&c, the way you were talking I was expecting nothing special, but this is really nicely done. I’m with BgDM here, some of the bumps on the metal peices looked a little too bumpy, but I like all the little details like the decals. Only thing I’d like to see, and is not any kind of change, is just to see more of the sides to see all that you’ve done to it. Good Job!

Great Work!
The amount of details is simply amazing.
No crits from me, but a question:
Did you use a glow effect in the picture?

Really cool details!

I’ll agree on BGdM’s comments on dirt…it really needs some dirt
and some depth to make it more “beliveable”.

Give it some proper lightning and it will shine!

nicely done. Theres a little too much glow on things that shouldn’t glow and not enough glow on things like lights. Very interesting model, though!

i really really need to ask man, how did u get the little butons and lights to glow like that, i really really REALLY need to know :o , and great work man, looks cool as hell.

Actually the glow is one of the problems of the image. I didn’t manage to get the lights glowing properly this time so I don’t really like it…
But to answer your question, it is all post pro. I usually render a scene with all objects being black except for the lights being green / red / whatever. Then I set the layer to screen mode and blur it a little bit or brush around the lights. That’s basically all.

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback, I do know that some of the parts seem to be not smooth but I didn’t do anything against that.
Also, the dirt and bump problems are because of my lack of motivation to do good textures. But it seems that I should take my time to do that next time

Anyway, thanks again and just keep the feedback comin’
