I am new to polygon modeling. I work mostly for watch companies, and therefore with different CAD softwares. Now I want to up the quality of leather strap modeling and I decided to learn modeling and UV unwrapping them in blender.
I modeled a NATO strap. I used a bezier, which I added “volume” to and then I bent it with a 'curve" modifier, to give a more dynamic look in the render. I copied the layer, and converted it into a mesh. The Mesh seems clean (to my untrained eye) but when I create a UV layout it;s all weird.
I would like the sides and the topsurface of the strap to be one. So I put the seems on the backside.
The back of the strap is clean and straight, but the part that contains the top surface and the bevel is all deformed. It’s hard to describe, so I attach the blend file.
I would greatly appreciate some help!
