Nature Academy Finished Result

Hey everyone, I just joined the Nature Academy, and this is my finished result after the first lesson. Really enjoying this class so far.

:eek:WOW:eek: That is really good!

It reminds me of the big buck bunny scene. Nice Job!

Looking awesome! What’s the course like? Is it one on one or something like Animation Mentor?

You’re kidding, right? This is totally different in that it’s realistic, while BBB’s grass was toony. Comparing just the two to each other, this scene is way better than BBB.

I really wish my PC had a bit more RAM because I really want to be able to render scene’s like this. I’ve done several super tiny patches of grass that turned out great, but scaling it up to even a small field section causes Blender to try for too much RAM. :frowning:

Neat image, the grass looks amazing! Nice work!

Thanks for all the great comments everyone! I’m really proud of this, even though someone taught me how to do it!

No, its not one on one, that would be almost impossible for both him and his students schedules to work together. So instead he has tons of videos showing you step by step instructions(Like all his tutorials on Blender Guru). But you can ask others for advise and help, and even Andrew will help you when he can.

I wouldn’t say better. Just differant, BBB was aimed at a cartoon look. But Andrew Price has really captured realistic nature.

I know what you mean, the best thing is to try and save up for some more RAM, or get a new computer. Plus learning the best ways to save RAM while running blender is very important.

Hey everyone, I was just playing around this morning and came up with this, almost the same, but still looks pretty.

Very nice. I prefer the first one. Now, lets get that kind of realism in the GE!

great render! the background especially looks phenomenal. i realize it may be something of a faux pas to ask this, since participants have paid good money to get this valuable information, but…

could we see a nodes setup, pretty please? i’d personally like to see your nodes for the atmospheric haze.

Thanks Doug! Yeah, that mountain that has the castle on it could use more work, but I was just playing around with the look.

I can let you have the node setup I think, shouldn’t give to much away I guess, here it is.

I’ve basically stopped rendering things - I render when I get paid to do so:

http://www.turnercustomfurniture.com/dturner3d/

All of that work is paid 3d prototypes for students in a local design school.

All of my focus is on GE objects, and how to get the best looking realtime materials I can. I guess I just don’t have the patience to press f12 all day, fixing tiny things here and there. The whole reason I got into 3d was because I played a 3d game years ago, and vowed that I’d learn to create such woderful graphics (funny, the graphics in that game were pretty low tech!).

Anywho, that first render is really outstanding in every way. I’m really impressed.

Yeah, rendering things can be tedious, especially when dealing with particles like this project does. But the results can be so much more powerful!
