Nature

Well, this is the start of a scene that will have a story to it, but for now all I’m going to say is that for the most part, I’m considering this image an exercise of creating realistic nature in Blender. Here’s what I have so far (the large blocked out areas aren’t actually going to be in the final render, of course; they’re just there to give me an idea of the composition). Feel free to comment or critique as I update this.

That look very convincing to me. I’m guessing 4 or 5 different particle systems?

I actually like the contrast of the very realistic grass and the perfect CG planes.

Good Work.

I like the clover and the fallen leaves. How about patches of dirt?

Looks really nice, but would be nice to have a higher resolution picture.

Thanks, everyone!

MonkMonk, yeah, 4 systems (so far). I’m planning on adding twigs, weeds, and additional plants later on as well.

sap, I had considered that, and I may still do so, but I’m basing the image off my backyard, which is kind of overgrown, so not much ground is visible.

Miktor, I’ll likely be uploading a slightly larger image later on, but as these take a while to render, there probably won’t be a really high resolution picture until the final image. Though I will post closeups, like this.

Here’s a tree stump I’ve been working on. I tried using the IvyGen addon in Blender, but I couldn’t get it to look right, so I ended up using the standalone ivy generator application.

Added house siding on the right.

I could totally see a wooden fence looking really good in this scene.

I’m glad you think so, because I was going to put a wooden fence along the area where the large white plane is now (with some trees and shrubs behind it, of course)
