PBR or NPR, I really need a good tutorial on how to shade. Either paid or free doesn’t matter.
I have a hard time understanding how the connection work or the logic of it.
There are youtube tutorials.
Some youtube videos are even 2 hours. Channel I recommend is default cube and lighting boy studio.
This is an introduction to toon shading, listed here there are 4 methods commonly used as basis: https://medium.com/@josephclaytonhansen/four-different-methods-for-making-cel-shaders-in-blender-eevee-2-8-2-9-6d976ce2555d
This is a space dedicated to learning toon shading, there are free and paid resources: https://blendernpr.org/
I personally have purchased the many secrets of NPR part 1, it told me basically nothing that youtubers arent already telling you for free.
My advice is to get all the info from youtube. There are some interesting paid courses for the grease pencil, but you need the shading and youtube has all you need for free.
Thank you so much for this, it helps a lot.
This article you linked is mine, and while it has some good information, it’s also woefully incomplete and out of date, I can’t in good faith recommend it
that said, I second the Lightning Boy Studio recommendation. Also, Sam Bowman has an incredible multi-part procedural texturing course on YouTube for free, it will teach you everything you need to know, the math behind it all, it’s absolutely incredible
wow you wrote a very useful piece. even if not complete I think it introduces people to the topic.
Thank you so much for the help, I looked it up and it is definitely interesting, It will definitely help with my personal projects. Thank you so much. Also your article is indeed dated but still quite useful.
hey there is this book online: https://bnpr.gitbook.io/bnpr/
