Need a Simple Cycles Workflow for Texture and AO Combined

Hello all,

I have been wracking my brain all day trying to find a simple workflow for cycles rendering. Either I find a two hour long tutorial or its not what I am looking for.

I am looking to cycles bake an AO shader and a texture at the same time, for instance, on a piece of furniture bake the wood texture and the AO map.

I know how to unwrap and create a new image in the UV editor.

No matter what I do it seems that my image is dark, does not include the texture or only includes the texture and not the shader. HELP. Thanks.
