Need help/advice for modeling a stretchy waistband

I’ve been attempting to model a stretchy waistband and I’m left scratching my head. I’ve tried messing around with the displacement modifier, procedural textures, and weight painting but with less than desirable results. Any tips or ideas that could get me pointed in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.


Did you try shrinking the edges of that part like many people do to make curtains?

EDIT: are you referring to using cloth simulation? If so, no, I haven’t tried that yet.

Yes, that’s it. I thought you were doing that since the beginning.

Generally speaking, I’d just sculpt details like that. A lot easier and cleaner than any kind of simulation, and quicker too, as you don’t have to spend 6 days tweaking endless settings lol

But I guess it depends on the end use of the model?
