Hi Guys,
I have Windows XP Home Edition on a 1 GB ram, single-core computer with a GeForce 6200 graphics card.
My Blender is running EXTREMELY slow with about a five second refresh rate.
I have tried installing Blender versions 2.55, 2.53, and 2.52 (which worked before I recently wiped my computer).
I have updated the graphics driver and still no luck…
PLEASE HELP!!!

Is that with a large mesh, or even a simple cube?
First place I would look is the computer. Either something is running in the background hogging resources,
or you have malware/virus.
I would add more RAM too. Windows is a bit of a memory hog.
RAM is cheap these days.
Did you install your chipset-drivers after wiping your computer?
I think upgrading to 16GB of RAM and a GTX 1080 fixed my problem, thanks for your help 
Win 10 OS needs around 3.5 GB and then need more memory for blender
so I think you need at least around 8 GB min !
plus your NVIDIA card mem
