NEED HELP FOR PROJECT! Rendering objects in separate layers

Hi everyone. Thanks to anyone who can help out.
I have a single scene in Blender 2.6, and I have an object with some blur nodes and an RGB mixer applied to it in the Compositor. However, I want to put some other objects in the scene without them receiving the the compositor effects, which is what has happened so far. Any advice is much appreciated.

You could probably set up a method using object IDs but a simple way would be to create a new scene with the extra objects then make another renderlayer node in the compositor linked to the second scene and comp the two scenes together; one with blur and RGB effects, and one without.
