I’m not an expert in Blender, I just learning and I came up to a wall…I’m trying to create a bridge arc which has different width (see attached jpg). I know I can create a rectangle and use a Curve Modifier to follow the the curve, but how do I go about changing the widths so that the middle part of the arc is thinner then the two bottom ends?
First make the arc any way you like (curve modifier, proportional edit etc.)
Hide the top part of the arc (so that it won’t get affected by proportional edit). Then turn on proportional editing, and select the lowest vertices (the vertices at each end of the arc). Then adjust the radius of the proportional edit tool to something appropriate so that the whole bridge will be affected. Then using the sharp falloff option, move the selected vertices down a bit. Unhide and see the result. Undo and try again if you aren’t happy with the difference in size
