I think your problem is the blue light. I would do two changes to it.

Make it slightly less saturated. It’s so vivid it almost looks inviting rather than the gloomy vibe of the references. In your references, the blue ambient light isn’t that colorful in most pictures, the orange lights are highly saturated though (because they imitate an actual type of light bulb or fire that are really that orange).

Is it a point light? How about trying a spot instead? It would allow controlling the cone to limit where there is light so the edges of the image are left more dark. The whole fog is brightly lit right now, the image won’t feel dark if there isn’t any darkness anywhere.
