Need help with transparent textures

Hi all! I’m new to blender.

I want to create a 2d mesh with transparent png texture attached to it. When I add my image in UV editor it looks as it should (tranparent areas are transparent). But when I add this texture to my mesh transparent areas become black. How can I avoid this? Thanks

Have you disabled the colour value and enabled the alpha value of your texture?

I’m new to blender and i’m not sure i understand where to disable this values

please see my second post

Go to the ‘Influence’ panel of your texture settings. Uncheck ‘Color’ and check ‘Alpha’ here.

edit: I had a look at your image and there are two other things you have to change (in case you haven’t already done this)
1.) The type of your texture must be ‘image or movie’ —> load your png-file
2.) Change your mapping coordinates from ‘Generated’ to ‘UV’

Thanks! That helped. But the problem was also because have not enabled GLSL
