Need help with vent for car.

Okay so I’m doing a Fiat for a car model and I’m actually kinda newbie at modelling still, I’ve gotten pretty far along in the model and I want to do the vent or grate thing that’s just under the license plate. I don’t know hooowwww Q.Q

The first image is the main reference I’m working with, the second is one I just found now so you can get a better view of the vent and the third is my process so far. It’s going alright at the moment I feel. Lots of smoothing and playing with lines to be had though sadly. Still need to put in lights in the back. Just have holes at the moment >.>

I think I chose a hard car to do for my first one… Also any tips and such are greatly appreciated :3

Unless you’re planning to take close up shots, I’d suggest making it with a texture.
Like in this blendercookie tutorial.

I suppose, but if I need to model this mother how would I do this? With array?

I need some help connecting this >.> - top frame to the front.

Also are they’re any good car tutorials someone can recommend me? I used to have a citizen membership and I was using the car tutorial that’s available but he hasn’t updated it for a bit and I finished the last video and I’m slightly lost as to what to do next >.<

I still consider myself very new at 3D modeling, but I came up with this result:

Started with a 6 sided cylinder, and used several arrays, then I solidified. To get the curvature of the grill I used two curves while utilizing the curve modifier, one for vertical and one for horizontal. Hope this has been of some use, the blend is attached.

Grill.blend (486 KB)

I tend to use Latice modifier for curving stuff like grills, but whatever works.

Why several arrays? Two should have been enough.
