Need Help

Hi,

Im new to blender and also to this site. I am currently doing a blender course on edX and am having some difficulty with an exercise. For the exercise which I am doing now I must draw an outline on this reference image where I marked red, then use a screw modifier to create the column. What is the best way to achieve this outline?

I would start by creating a bezier curve, deleting one of the vertex (so you have one vertex left) and extruding that vertex as you wish. Changing handle type between automatic and vector will be useful for sharp turns etc.
