hello so im new to this video game industry are you allowed to like make a game based lets say spongebob and call it etc spongebob massacre and sell it as it includes the characters etc or is that not allowed the reason i ask is dont really get the rules about that hope someone can explain it 
the answer is simple: no
reason: as soon as you put the likeness of an existing IP into your product you are committing copyright infringement. Also using an existing registered TM (in this case Spongebob) in the title is prohibited (edit: All of this depends on your country’s rules and regulations of course. If you were to sell this in North Korea, you might be fine).
