As I recall, when I read about Blender’s weight painting I learned that red was no deformation (think red light, stop), and blue was deformation (think water).
Now, in 2.46 when I am weight painting for the density of particles, red seems to mean full amount of particles, and blue seems to mean none. Luckily, there is a button that says Neg to negate the effect, but isn’t it still confusing that everywhere else in Blender red means none and blue means all?

afaik, red has always been FULL, and blue is so cool its like no influence, man, like water. but that’s ok, in 2.46 you can change it.

Yeah, red has always been full.

Wow, so I was just very confused.
I can’t believe I thought that for so long! :o
