New blank scene?

I’m fairly new to Blender (2.58). I have only created one scene so far. This scene is now finished and I want to start a new one, only when I hit Ctrl-N or choose New from the File menu nothing seems to happen, my old scene stays on the screen…

I know this is probably a very idiotic question but how do I get a new basic scene (cube, camera, lamp) to appear?

Thanks in advance for your help

You must’ve accidentally saved that file as your default (Ctrl+U).

Go to the top header, go to ‘File’ and click on ‘Load Factory Settings’. Then save user settings again (Ctrl+U)

Oh gosh! Yes I did save user settings because I changed some shortcuts and some of the interface colours. I never realised Blender saves the scene as default too! Thank you for your quick reply.

To create new scene, look to the top menu bar. You will see current scene set at “Scene.” Right next to “Scene” is a plus sign. Just select that and select new.
