But are ATI/AMD graphic cards still not “that good” for 3D, or has it become better lately?

i’m curious to hear if there are any blender users who jumped on the 2011 macbook pros. the quad core processors are tempting, but i wanna make sure there aren’t any ‘gotchas’ when working in blender, mainly with the switch back to ati/amd graphics.
