New iMac and Blender 2.53

Hi,

I’m planning to buy new 27" iMac with 2.8GHz Intel Core i5 and ATI Radeon HD 5750, but does it work well with Blender? Mainly I’m curious about ATI how does it spin Blender.

Any kind of thoughts are welcome!
Thanks.

I’ve no problems with the 27" i7 with the previous graphics card (ATi HD4850), so this better one should handle it fine.

Same, it’s working fine here

@ Richard and D.Plainview, did you opt for the keyboard with the number pad?.

I had a numpad keyboard anyway. If you have a desktop there’s no reason not to have a full keyboard.

I’ve got a 2.8 GHz i7 here with the ATI Radeon HD 4850, 8GB RAM and it handles Blender like a charm.

I learned Blender on a laptop years ago, so I still use “Emulate Numpad” and therefor didn’t get the full-length keyboard. But that’s just me.

There is no wireless full keyboard???

Hi Kirree,

I own an iMac 27" 8GB memory, 2.8 GHz i7 CPU, ATI Radeon HD 4850.
Blender 2.5.3 beta works really great!

What about rendering heat? Does it heat up so it can’t be left to night renders or does it matter at all???

My 24" iMac runs cool. Mid Summer I sometimes use smcFanControl (free download) to speed up the cooling fans, works a treat.
