Feasibility study for improving an existing unloved cottage into a ‘scandi’ looking home.
The design highlight some effective move to improve the existing space, a new large wooden window, a new door to the living space with a glazed fixed part to bring more light into the corridor, and to improve the front access, replacing the front door with a partially gazed one, and proposing a new canopy to protect the entrance from the rain and to create shading in the summer months.
The canopy will be constructed using reclaimed bricks, wood shingles and timber joists.
The team and the client felt that reusing materials was meaningful, even on a small project like this one.
Being able to presents the proposal using photorealistic images and real-time render made it easy for the client to agree on the proposal.
Taking informed decisions, exploring the design while walking in the digital copy of the building, is the way we work.

Are you guys an architecture agency with someone specialized in modeling/rendering? I have a general interest to understand how 3D penetrates different lines of work.

Thank you, I am happy to see that our works get appreciated among other artist.
We don’t have a specialized rendering guru or someone who is dedicated to render.
We developed the design idea through paper sketch and blender in parallel, as we use blender to do the 1st site analysis using gis add-on, so we can see the constraint of the site.
We use the blender models for visuals as well as coordination with others, (engineers, surveyors, ect) and to create 2d drawings for contractors.

That’s really nice. Looks like you’ve adopted Blender at different places in your workflow, that is awesome. It is impressive to see how you guys have mastered these different aspects, but also how you fully jumped on the digital ship for your work. I have the feeling that a lot of architectural firms still see 3d as the cherry on top of the cake, just to sell sexy renders, while it has the potential of really governing a full project.

The main benefit for us is to develop and designing spaces, inhabiting it from the rough sketches to the complete design, and because we can see in real-time what we are designing it also pushes up the quality of our design.
