New method for baking fluid sim.

Hi!
I’ve been working on a new method for baking fluid sim data in blender, and thought I’d share a progress shot with y’all.

Just so there’s no confusion, I’m actually not developing a new fluid sim bake

Hahaha! That just made my day.

That’s awesome! Simply awesome.

Can’t wait for v. 2.0

Where’s the data? :0
Oh, there it is, the calculator and blender!

looks very realistic. Could we see a wireframe? What resolution did you use? Did you bake it for 45 minutes at 350?

Actually this is already version .57 I had some problems with a leaky seal, and had to install a towel module for the floor. I wish I could show a wireframe, but the fact of the matter is that this method is so efficient that the wireframe is almost invisible. :RocknRoll:
PapaSmurf: You guessed it! that’s exactly the right baking settings!

damn you

i was quite curious

but you made me laugh a lot

claas

watch for overflows.

lol!! nice!

I hope no blenders were hurt in the making of this!

I can assure you, only Blenderheads had any risk of injury in this study

Is that an inflow, outflow, or fluid? What resolution is the fluid at?
And wheres the domain?
You should submit this to the Blender patch tracker so we can get
this great new addition in Blender.

Can you apply a ‘microwave OVN’ patch for accelerated rendering times?

I hear this is how project Peachfuzz is doing all their baking.

Hehe.
Yes! Even though we’re only in the early stages of testing, this method is proving quite solid. The fluid seems to bake quickly and efficiently on every try, no matter the size of the domain. We’re still trying to work out the bugs though, one of the most serious being that blender does some really funny things after each bake. The interface seems to become all gooey, and really hard to use, and I have to restart.

Woah! You are the man! Have you submitted these results to the Blender Foundation? (btw, you might want try a better lighting setup before submitting this to BF)

Yeah, that default point light doesn’t look the most professional I guess.
I want to submit, but I figure I had first better write a rapid cooling script, or give Ton some really really thick oven mitts.

Ha! Damn, it’s really great!

rotfl that is great. Does your sim use convection or traditional baking.

haha:)

great textures, and very realistic lighting:eyebrowlift:

That kitchen HDR image is so overused, please consider using another one.

Great progress though, could you put your version of Blender online please, I’d love to give it a go!
