I have a old desktop Core2Quad Q6850 with a Nvidia GT440 1GB.
I want to change to a mobility laptop and i have one in mind this one:

Processador / Chipset

  • Intel® Core™ i7-3635QM (2,40 GHz) com 6 MB de Cache (3,4 Ghz Turbo Boost)
    Intel® HM76
Graphic Card

AMD Radeon HD 8870 2 GB gDDR5 (Dedicated)

Memory

  • 8 GB (4 GB integrados + 1 x 4 GB) DDR3 1 600 MHz
  • 1 x SODIMM (memória máxima 12 GB)
Hard Drive TB S-ATAII (5 400 rpm)

Good, but why not find one with an Nvidia card? If you ever use cycles, the performance difference can be astronomical. If your a big cycles user, I would recommend getting one with an i5, but a more powerful graphics card.

Nice laptop, for optimal system performance I would consider equipping it with a SSD drive.
If you are seriously into rendering get a desktop, but for modeling etc this should be pretty nice.

Yes, at some day cycles is also work on AMD hardware but not atm.
