looking slick! off to download and play with…
Anyone tried this yet? I’m finding it hard to believe the quality of the Toyta pic. Such a difference in quality to the second computer panel pic.
I doubt it . . . it won’t be released until Friday (or is that just the binaries?).
Downloads are in the forum, linux 64-bit and win.
I compiled from CVS and working fine. Blender exporter is rather limited yet but it is a very early version.
Cool! Testing it right now. Can’t wait to see how this project develops . . .
I saw the thread regarding the creation of the pic just a little skeptical of it since this is such an early release and the second pic has such a dramatic quality level difference. If it’s that good for sure and starts having a good exporter or integrated then I’ll jump on board for sure.
I don’t see why you would say that. The car pic has many flaws that I can pick out. On top of that, I would say the computer pic looks better than the dealership pic. I guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder.
me, too… i like the computer pic better.
They’re both great looking renders, and I’d say the quality of each is on the same level.
It doesn’t even make much sense to compare them, the scenes are so different (models, materials, composition, lighting . . .).
Hi guys,
the toyota pic had about 3x more rendertime than the telecine suite pic,
that’s why the latter one is a bit more noisy.
I quite like the small amount of noise in the telecine pic as it gives it a ‘1980’s’ look.

Hey radiance,
The Prius gallery image links to a larger version of the . . . telecine image.
i fixed it…

Well, I installed release candidate 2 yesterday and downloaded the sample scene. 19 hours later and it’s still rendering… but man does it look good. At this point I don’t see any more noise or any real change in the image after buffer updates, even if mathematically it hasn’t converged yet.
I showed the image to a 16 year old boy staying with us. I had to convince him it was computer generated and not a photograph.
@war: its an unbiased renderer, it can go on for ever if you let it to…
stop the rendering and save the image…
Well I obviously haven’t been doing my graphics theory homework lately. Good thing you told me, or I might have let it run forever just to see if it would finish.
In case you care to see what it looks like after 20 hours, here it is:
Mac PPC binaries? any chance?
I’m wondering about that too…
After all there are still people using PPC Macs. ![]()
You could compile it ![]()
It only takes a few minutes.
Well it would love to do that, if I could.
I have no idea at all how to code or program or compile, or however you call it.
Unless I find a very detailed and idiot proof step-by-step guide to do this, I am afraid, I will be unable to compile it. :o
