Any suggestion?
Yeah, let’s see the ship!
Nice image.

Very nice start !!
don’t know…but looks nice for a beginning…how do you do the gradient effect for the atmosphere ?
any tips for making space scenes and planets ?
a while ago I made an spaceship and not to great scene,
but here is the thread https://blenderartists.org/viewtopic.php?t=2183 …and the final image is here:
Here is a first shot of the spaceship, of course still heavily under costruction. The grid texture is useful to get an idea of the look:
What do you think?

Looks cool …will the midsection rotate for gravity reasons ?
if you have any spaceship tricks, please tell us if you want
Yes, the midsection will rotate for gravity.
I don’t have any particular trick with spaceships, apart the basic rules for cg object: they must have edges to look real.
The atmosphere gradient in the first image is simply a blend colorated procedural texture, mapped on a scaled copy of the planet mesh with alpha channel activated for transparency towards the camera (wow! a very long phrase).

i’m not seeing any of your pictures altough i do see that otherguys pic of the rainbow space ship.
heres a link to my scene if you want inspiration. its only the opening so ive got heaps more modeling to do on other ships might go do that now.

Wow nice space scene and that ship is going to look great with textures.
You sure do good work.

Nice space planet scene. I want to see the finished anim.
I wonder if he needs that much inspiration…just check his site , awsome!!

wow…I hope it will be as good as the former spacescene with those
2 spaceships…or even better !!
good luck !
Thank you all!

I started the project just yesterday (yes, I don’t have a girlfriend at the moment) so the animation is not done yet.
When it will be finished, I’ll post it.
bye

but i’ll take your word on it cause i’m only a new blenderer so most peoples are better than mine
i’ll come back soon and check if its up and running
i’m always looking for inspiration myself
maybe it is something wrong with your connection,
because it shows up fine at my place , no problem…
i can see the other guys pic but not any of his
perhaps its my location in the world
i’ve tried on three occations so its consistant
but never before or for any ither site.
doesn’t work in netscape or IE.
oh well i was so looking foward to seeing that pic
must have been good
Hey, Alltaken
If you have an e-mail address, I can send you the images.

I love it. It is the most realistic atmosphere I have seen with Blender.
My little brain is getting a little confused, though, with the lighting. The light on the big planet and that of the moon don’t seem to be coming from the same sun. Or is it just me?
Oh ya, and I love the texture on the big planet.

Ehm… the source light is just the same for the planet and the moon (only one light in the scene) but may be that the effect looks fake anyway.
Someone else with the same impression?
Env
The light looks fine to me. You are close to the big planet so you would only see the light area but the smaller one you can see more of it so you see the dark and the light sides. I suspect since you used one light source as you backed away from the big planet you would see both light and dark areas.
Nice picture.
