I’m no texturer by any means, but I have a couple years on me in GIMP, mainly digitalizing my art that I draw. When I began a small project with my brother I decided to try to take the role of a texturer. Anyways, I made this http://gyazo.com/f58c559d59c8a98b1f9a908e8d84c6d2 and I was looking around and I found someone else had made this http://pokemonjourney.freeforums.org/108-lickitung-t327.html and I was just curious what I’d need to do to achieve a similar effect with the shading. I’m not sure, but it looks like it is just in the texture, but I could be wrong.
It looks like the second image is rendered to an indexed color palette. I don’t think blender does that, currently. You might be able to get something similar using toon shading though.
