New user confused with star making! ;-)

Hi

I am relatively new to Blender and recently acquired “The Official Blender 2.0 Guide” and have been working through the book with the version of Blender included on the CD-ROM. As a university student doing Astrophysics I wish to be able to render planets, stars and other spatial phenomena but even after trying to follow the guide I’m having no luck! :frowning:

Could someone please lead me to some tutorials or offer any hints & tips that might be helpful – I would really appreciate it!

Thank you,

Shehraz Ditta

If you’d like to see it, here’s my file of a planet.

Good planet tutorial.

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for your help thus far  Following through some tutorials I have managed to render a star; the result of which is shown below. Unfortunately in order to get a more realistic star I wish to create flames across the stars surface coloured orange. I have managed to construct a particle that gives a great result but doesn’t seem to show up when I place it in front of the sun :frowning:

Please help!
