New Version Troubleshooting

Does anyone have any advice on how best to troubleshoot problems with new Blender versions? I really need to use the multi-threaded armature feature of 2.7 but my project crashes hard without any crash log or error messages to the console. I’ve updated Blender a few times and my project has always worked fine in new versions but not this time.

I am able to run a basic scene with a cube no problem. I also have another project that I tested and it crashed as well. Unfortunately, my game is quite extensive and I don’t really know where to start troubleshooting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Submit a bug report with a basic test file, although perhaps post it here first so we can offer some insight.

The problem is that I’m struggling to make a basic test file. My game is pretty huge so I have NO idea what is causing it to crash. Right now, I’m slowly disabling things one at a time and testing, but that could take weeks.

I can post my project here but I don’t think it’s fair to expect people to try to troubleshoot it without knowing all of the systems that I have in place.

Ok I kind of feel like an idiot. The game seems to work fine with the official 2.70a from blender.org. So I have 2 questions:

  1. Is the multi-threaded armature feature included with the current official release (2.70a)?
  2. What is usually different between the official build and the ones you download from Graphicall.org?

(I’ve always used graphicall in the past and haven’t had problems until now) Thanks!
