Newbee needs some help

High I’m new here and have just one question. I am building my self a new computer. I’m going with best of everything since it’s going to be doing everything. I’m going to have a dual core opteron, 2gig of corsair ram, SATA2 drives, etc…

However my question is, will dual PCI express video cards running in SLI affect Blender in any negative way? I need to know asap cause I’m ordering and building this week.

Thanks

Kyle

Well no… my first reaction to your question is no… using the best technology for the best programs is not going to affect them …unlike us …you’ll notice that our computers will start running slowly or start to freeze or something wierd will happen- like unexpected lines in Blender… for you, you won’t and most certainly should’nt have a problem…

HOWEVER… which ever system you are going to build (saying like a Hewlett Packard, or Sony type model) then visit their website and see what types of problems that they help users resolve…like in a FAQ section, etc…

I was making an Alienware PC way back when but I didnt want to buy it cause they had a newer model coming out and thought it would be best for using Blender…oddly I never got around to purchasing it anyway because… wait a minute… why didnt i buy it? :-?

Thanks Monk for the reply. Just to let you know though I’m not buying from HP or Sony, I build my own computers.

Cool… my buddie’s dad makes computers for his son…he’s younger than me by about two years though…

When I bought a brand new ATI Radeon 256 MB card (it’s awesome) I at first had problems with my previous integrated chip. Blender kept crashing. At first, I thought it was the drivers, then the software, then anything that blinked. But it ended up that the problem was a plugin and the graphics card didn’t affet the matter… so wait… I guess this doesn’t have anything to do with it at all!

Yeah. 100 MPH in a circle. Gets you nowhere.
