Newbee - UV Editor question

Hello,
I am very new to Blender and try to use the UV editor the 1st time.
I have a simple cube and want to show an image on one face of the cube.
But the image should not completeley fill the face. There should be a border between the image and the edges of the face.
So I need something like a scale function.
I deactivated ‘Layout Clipped to image size’ in the UV Editor window, UVs menu and then I scaled the UV area bigger than the image. (see A1.jpg).
But the problem now is that the image is tiled. (see red area in A1.jpg).
But the border should appear as base meterial color of the cube. (see A2.jpg)
So how do I get a border between image and edges of the face, without tiling?

Thanks for any support!

Pease understand that I do not have Blender in front of me now as I am on a school computer.

Why would it tile? That makes no sense because it is a UV texture. Go into the Textures panel and look for anything that might even be remotely associated with tiling.

Check the Materials panel as well.

Hello,
thanks for reply. I already looked in texture panel, but I found nothing to switch off the tiling!

Hello,
thanks for reply, I will give your suggestions a try, hope I can follow, because I am very new to Blender!

You could subdivide the cube twice, and then UV map only the middle 4 faces to the image; the outside faces will be your border.
