newbie / how to scale??

greetings

let say I create a cube

still in edit mode is press [s-key] then hold down the middle mouse button

then drag in the direction I want

problem is I only seem to be able to scale in one direction

and Blender only “occasionaly” allows me to scale along the other axis

what am I missing

cheers

lilo :-?

make sure you push S when your mouse is away from the object. kove it towards the object to shrink, and away from the object to enlarge.

hope i help

Idiot

SKey = scale object or object/child or objects joined.

sKey+MMB = scale in the direction that you are dragging.

thanks for the replys…

let me try again

if I do s-key + mmb and drag along the x axis in top view then the cube will scale along that axis

but if I do s-key + mmb and drag along the y axis the cube still scales along the x axis

still confused

thanks

lilo

just change view w/ numpad, it will only scale on the “left to right axis”, but if youre in front or side view and you scale it, it will still scale “left to right” as you see it, and when you return to top view, it will have scaled how you saw it. hard to explain, but pretty much use different views to sclae in different directions. . .

OK, if you REALLY want me to explain, and you REALLY don’t want to experience the joys of experimentation and discovery…

SKey> MMB> MMB> MMB.
