Now, bear with me as I’m a beginner. I’m basically trying to set up a “throne-room” of sorts; I’m looking to have a camera being centered on the throne in the middle while doing a 360’ rotation around it.
So, I’m having trouble correctly lighting the scene, as you can imagine and see from the picture. I’m working in Cycles Render and I’ve think I’ve got a problem with setting up the World correctly. I’ve tried so many different things at this point, its all over the place at this point and I’m not sure I can find the solution myself.
I tried going with ‘Volume Scatter’, as suggested by Andrew Price in one of his videos. The scene just goes extremely dark and I can’t light up anything for the life of me.
Looking at the picture, do you think I can do something to lower the amount of grain or is that just a part of the deal? It feels like a render at sample 200 should provide a tad better result, no?
Thanks in advance, looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
This is a Render sample with a ‘Volume scatter’ setting under ‘World’. I like the look but its impossible for me to properly light up the scene; I placed an emission object inside of a cylinder as a make-shift lampshade, pointing down towards the floor. At strength 500, it produces some very weird results. There is also a point-lamp in there pointing towards the placeholder throne/chair; but that doesn’t make itself known even one bit.
I’ve come to realize that my original plan to have a 360’ rotation of the camera around the throne is not really feasible. The time it would take to render all of those shots; definitely not an option - Unless I really nail down the render and I’m super happy with the results.
Right now I’m kind of stuck, waiting for potential feedback from more experienced users like ya’ll folks. I don’t think I can make this happen on my own, I just can’t get it to make a good render of my scene.
Another render sample; this one with an empty ‘World’ settings. Two smaller “spotlights” shining on the drapes at the back and three larger “floodlights”. I most definitely prefer the look of the render with ‘Volume Scatter’ enabled.
I would love to have the room be sort of dark in general, with a few lights here and there lighting up details. I’d also want the room in the back to be completely black at the end of them. So essentially, you see them lead out somewhere. I have no light in particular shining directly in the back-rooms, however they’re still lit up indirectly.
