Working in blender cycles: Ive created diffrent matiriels, selected my faces , added textures. Then gone on and made new material slots and added textures. I wanted to make some changes in the first slot, but when i opened that slot, the faces were no longer selected and so dont show on my UW. It means i have to spend loads of time re selecting all the faces. Is there a quicker way to do this?
Lisa, when you have the faces selected that you want to have a material on, you need to assign the faces so that it uses that material slot. Otherwise, it uses the default (top) material.
If you do have the faces assigned already, they won’t necessarily be “selected” when you select the material, but you should still be able to change the material on them. If you want to see the faces that are assigned to a particular material, make sure you have an empty selection and with the material you want, click select in the material box. Then they should show up in the UV window.
One way to keep your selections is to assign them each to it’s own Vertex Group. Another is to mark border edges as a Seams: if mouse cursor is in seam-marked area hitting L key while in face select mode will select all faces in this marked area.
