Night Lighting

Hi all,
I’m working on some buildings for X-Plane and was hoping some one would know how to do this. I’m trying to put lighting on a building not to light the structure it self but for effect like the real building here are two links so you can look at it the building in question is the round lighted ball

Any help would be nice

The two images you gave as a reference are extremely different.

If you mean 'I want some windows to act as if the room behind were lit, then the answer is plain and simple. Put a lamp within the room.

If you are lazy and you don’t want to model the inside of the building, make the window ‘emit’ some light. But this is ugly.

If it is the lighting of the ball thing than use an icosphere (subdivision 3 I’d say) and set its material to halo.

Stefano,
As the description in my original post states it’s the “round lighted ball” [the only one in both shots :-)] with lots of individual light on it. The thing my trying to figure out is how to make the individual lights to put on the sphere.

Well do like tordat said…

add an icosphere, then add a material with an halo material to it and put it as a red color or watever you want. It will make multiple little “light”. But if you really was all those thing to light was in around it then you need to add–>lamp and in the lamp setup click Sphere, then play with the Dist so the sphere isn’t too big…and place those lamp where you want. You’ll need alot to redo the tower with the sphere…

btw, racerX ??? I mean c’mon…my f1 name was XRacer…You stole my name!!! %| lol (j/k)

Torday’s solution should work for you. If you want the interior ball as well, just duplicate the sphere, scale it a bit and add a new non-Halo material, a dark shiny one.

I’ll play around with that, and by the RacerX as my name on GameRanger :stuck_out_tongue:
