Niklas Werth Sketchbook

I properly got attentive of this because “some other guys i knew” where posting here lately… and because of some name assemlence (“Niklaus Wirth”)… you might know of…

…but then i recognized i “met you” in the ‘lizard in a hammock’ incident…

And all this sounds like a fantastic base for a SF-novel… :joy_cat:

…so i have to look at some of your posts a bit more attentive… at least i want to try… in the near future…

oh yeah, I remember ya! Welcome to the thread, hope you enjoy the stuffs.

I modeled an escape vehicle,

the landing pad is now a hangar

and like, yeah, its pretty much done now. I also added in best times to the level select screen.

I gotta add force fields to the prison cells, and maybe add another little sneaky route, and maybe a few easter eggs and stuff like that, but I’ll be releasing it very soon. I gotta eat some breakfast though, and then head over to my niece’s birthday, so probably won’t get more work done on it today, maybe tonight. It’s exciting to almost be done!

Okay fellas! It’s officially released and public! No more password required for entry.

I might maybe do some more work on it, but at this point, I feel like I finished it on the first of January, and though I’ve fixed some bugs, and added little details, I’m kinda just procrastinating it, and also, I kinda wanna just be… done? This was supposed to be a much shorter project, and I want to not feel guilty anytime I work on something else because it isn’t finished/released yet hahaha

Hope you all enjoy it, thank you all for being supportive and giving feedback and stuff this whole time.

not really happy with how that gun turned out for that particular character. It feels very small and subtle for him. so I’m trying another idea.

I did another gamejam, which involves all sorts of blender sketching.

Voting ends later today, and feedback has been really positive from the other fellows in the jam so far, so hopefully I do alright overall in the rankings.

The jam host is playing through every single entry on live stream he went by submission order, so mine was the 6th shown and ended up 2:09:37 into the video

Got second place in that gamejam. Lost first by 0.035. I was so close.

a little wood sculpt practice. It relies heavily on alphas I did the end grain one myself, and was experimenting with some bark ones on my own, but then tried a free one from online, that’s sort of dominating the end result.

I’ve also been making some matcaps, it’s kinda weirdly fun. Here’s the soft clay one I made today, thats on the above model.

Here’s a simple topdown daylight on white one that came out well. Very often, I preview my models in this exact light setup, It’s shown up a lot in this thread, so having a matcap of it sort of saves me a lot of time.

I did another one that was very similar to this, but offset the light a bit, but its on my home computer, and Im house sitting with just my laptop.

and heres a gold, and copper one. They look alright on this wood model, but I think the surface details get kinda warped and look bad one characters and stuff, atleast so far.

edit: bark is just box mapped, but, with some texturing

Draw me like one of your french frogs.
