Thought I’d show the first few teasers of my new animation project.
Ninja is an exercise for me in animation and nothing else really, but knowing Blender I’m sure I’ll learn something else on the way. The Ninja model is a free download for 3DSMax (from 3dcafe.com) which I’ve imported into Blender.
I’ve modeled the dojo and the Katanas and done the texturing, my first good results with the toon shader system.
No more talk, check out the poster and still from the animation whilst you download the anim.
All keyframed no IK solvers!! (Have since remade the armature rig but it’s being an IK bitch.)
Why not create your own character? I remember you making a “Dr. Octopus sidekick” character a while back that was pretty impressive. If it’s a time issue than I understand. Or maybe you just really liked the model.
In that picture of the ninja figure it seems like he’s off balance. Either move the torso forward or bend it forward a bit… he does look like he has a terribly stiff backbone.
You’re quite right. I did spend all that time on the Doc Octo character, but this is just an anim test more than anything. The ninja was one of the first models I downloaded, and had planned to animate him a long time ago.
scraze, the handle of the Katana is the same size as the scabbard, I tried to model this as closely to a real Katana/Samurai sword I had seen in Kill Bill. (Ooops, just let my inspiration source slip there.)
macouno, I think it’s just the still that gives the impression of a stiff back, check out the anim and see if you still think it needs loosening up a bit.
Over all I liked your animation the background scene looked nicely done. Then movement looked good as well. the only problem I seen and this is just my opinion was the swords just seemed a little too big for the character though. Over all nicely done though I liked it .
